Twas The Week After Christmas
I have decided that the week after Christmas, because we travel every year to spend the holidays with family, must be a cozy, restful and relaxing week. After a week of roadtripping, being off schedule, eating food we normally don't eat and being on the go constantly there is nothing better than lots of sleep, movies (at home or out), simple eating, reading books, magazines and blogs, and sitting still and spending cozy time together.
As sad as we were to leave family, friends & snow behind, driving west and enjoying the gorgeous scenery was a great way to start our post holiday rest. Then having a few days of peace and quiet has been delightful. One night was date night and we saw TRON, had a great dinner at our favorite Brazilian restaurant, had hot chocolate & cake at our favorite dessert spot.
New Year's Eve day we spent going to several shops to gather a delicious NYE dinner. We made the most delicious steaks (Thanks to The Man who bought the most amazing piece of beef I've ever seen- and I grew up on a farm where we raised our own beef!), beautiful baked potatoes with butter, sour cream, cheese and chives, carmelized carrots and fresh green beans topped off with sparking lemon-lime/cranberry drinks and then we had pumpkin pie for dessert.
The plated food looked so gorgeous I wanted to take a photo to share with you, but the lighting in the dark dining room at that time of night would not have done it justice. An amazing meal and a fun day pulling it all together with The Man.
Yesterday was bad movie day. Just junk movies on TV and dawdling around the house. Such a treat and so, so relaxing. Today it's been church and more rest. I'm so happy about making this a new tradition and it makes me look even more forward to the holidays!
Tonight we're going to work on visions boards and tomorrow morning it's up and at 'em early to begin my return to healthy morning rituals. It's going to be a bit of a shock to the system, but I can't wait. I'll be posting lots of inspiration this month to get the new year off on a great start. I'm looking forward to it!

Sounds delicious . . . in every way.
Fondly,

Sounds like a great way to spend the week! Maybe I'll try it next year!
